Coppenger v. State of Florida DOC: Heart Disease Presumption Supports TTD and Cardiology Care

JCC granted Jack Coppenger compensability for inappropriate sinus tachycardia after finding the condition qualified as heart disease under section 112.18(1) and triggered the Heart and Lung presumption for a correctional officer.

The order accepted the claimant cardiology IME over the carrier IME, found no medical evidence of a nonoccupational cause, and awarded TTD from August 4, 2025 through February 2, 2026, authorized cardiology care, and granted penalties, interest, costs, and attorney fees. OJCC Case No. 26-002290JW.
